Event Description: The Philadelphia Interfaith Walk for Peace and Reconciliation is an annual gathering organized by Muslims, Jews, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Bahá’í, secular people, and others concerned about and committed to multi-religious and cross-cultural cooperation. The Walk offers Philadelphia a soulful alternative to the violence in the world and in so many of our neighborhoods. By walking together, the participants believe they are taking a step toward fully recognizing our unity-in-diversity, cherishing differences as well as commonalities—above all, our shared wish for peace in a time of wrenching political conflict, ecological destruction, and economic suffering. Through dance, chanting, prayer, and conversation, the Walk is meant to be a journey of spiritual discovery and the start of a longer dialogue among citizens of Philadelphia and the world on the urgent need for peaceful change.
