Event Description: Members and speakers from the Muslim, Christian and Jewish faiths will attend to take part in a discussion about the theological basis for environmental responsibility.
The forum is free and open to the public. Advance reservations are not required. Members of local communities are encouraged to attend and participate.
The presenting speakers will include Mesut Sahin, a professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark and a member of the advisory board of the Interfaith Dialogue Center in Newark; Rabbi Mark Biller of the Adath Shalom Synagogue in Morris Plains, and the Rev. Shawn Garvey, the senior pastor at Stanley Congregational Church.
Garvey said the purpose of the forum is to provide a venue for people of various faiths to get to know one another and interact through discussion and the sharing of light refreshments. The pastor said the event is designed to help promote increased respect and understanding among faiths as perspectives on the environmental issues facing the world today are shared.
