Greg Mortenson - Stones Into Schools

On January 15, 2010 author and humanitarian Greg Mortenson sat down with Bill Moyers on PBS' Bill Moyers Journal. Greg Mortenson is the best-selling author of "Three Cups of Tea" and his latest novel "Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace With Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan" which argues that education is the best way to peace in Afghanistan and across the Islamic world. Over the past 17 years Mortenson has helped constructed 131 schools across rural Afghanistan and Pakistan that specializes in educating young boys, and specifically girls. Mortenson explains the importance and educating young girls and the positive impact it has on the whole society.

In the interview, Mortenson shares his insights into the Islamic culture, the Taliban, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the positive changes he has witness among the people through education. Mortensen shares his message for hope, compassion, and peace in the Middle East.
