Leonard Swidler - Age of Global Dialogue

On March 19, 2009 Professor Leonard Swidler from the
Global Dialogue Institute gave his reflections on
interfaith dialogue before the Scottish Parliament. Swidler relates theology and human sciences (religion, sociology, or anthropology) to physical sciences (chemistry, biology, or physics) and comes to the conclusion that with both, nobody knows everything about anything. He says that theology and religion is the most comprehensive and complicated discipline of all. However, billions of people still believe that their religion is the one true path to God and everyone else is wrong. He says that is it is true that we can always only know any limited study of reality partially, we must be even more modest in our claims of knowing better when it comes to religion. He sees interfaith dialogue as one way to search for an ever fuller grasp of reality when it comes to religion. This is a growing global trend he is witnessing. We are leaving behind the "Age of Monologue" and entering into the "Age of Global Dialogue"!
